Megan on my Mind...

One of my very best friends is Megan.  We became friends in college, pretty much instantly.  Unfortunately my friend is not tied down to Oklahoma like I am.  Most of my family and most of my husband's family all live here in the city.  Megan is all over! From Oregan to S. Korea to N. Carolina to Texas to Oklahoma!  On one of her visits we decided to have a bunch of girls over to catch up and Megan was going to make cookies while I made dinner.

Well something was not right with the cookies.... at all! We could not figure it out! We read over every ingredient again and again to make sure all was included, and it was.  So we decided, lets just add more flour (it was really runny).  Megan pulls out the flour to add it and I look over and I say, "umm... is that the flour you used?"  and she says, "yes, why?"
"that's powdered sugar," I say.

Needless to say my containers were not labeled at all.  That was in 2010, I think.  So on Tuesday May 1, 2012 I labeled my containers!!

Every single time I pull out one of these items, and especially when anyone else does, I think of Megan.  I hope that I still am reminded of her every time, even though they are labeled now!  Otherwise I might have to take the labels off!  And I would!

Oh! And about the cookies? We tossed that batch and started over, and had delicious cookies and a wonderful evening!

Baking Soda & Vinegar

I'm trying to go green-especially where chemicals are involved. It's amazing how many chemicals I touch & inhale in a normal day!

-hairspray
-haircolor
-cleaning products
-deep cleaning products
(we all know that is a seperate category!)
- laundry bleach

So I've been trying some other options bc-I'll still use my chemicals if they're the only thing that works

I recently discovered baking soda & vinegar! I know it's old but it's new to me:) and me oh my does it work! The shower in our bathroom had some gross old grout that I would NOT touch. But now it's almost white!! After only one good application!

I simply coated the grout with baking soda, sprayed vinegar on it (regular white vinegar) that I put in a travel spray bottle, then let it sit for a long time! 45min to an hour is best:).

So I went on doing other things and came back to scrub with a scrubby brush. It was pretty easy! And it was clean! I was amazed!

                                Before-ugh!

Baking Soda:

Vinegar in a spray bottle:

Scrub Scrub Scrub!

Ta-Da!!
If you are noticing that other disgusting dark corner- I fixed that next!
I merely took more applications, a razor, and more baking soda...

Love it! And thanks for reading, Let me know if you try it and how it works for you!!

Wire Baskets

So I have this current obsession with Farmhouse looks.  It's kind of like cottage, but more rugged I guess.  Whatever it is I love wire baskets right now! Square, round, short, tall, whatever!

I usually find good, cheap ones at TJ Maxx.  Currently one serves as a dog toy holder under one of our end tables.  Super cute, and Molly can't eat it!  She's a really good dog and only messes with her toys and nothing else, but in her mind the basket that holds the toys, is also a toy!  Fair logic I suppose:)

Rodan+Fields

This is my new business!  Of course I am still a hairstylist!! This is just a side business.
If you know me at all then you know that I am not pushy and I am not someone who sells things.  (I've never done arbonne, mary kay, jewelry or whatever else)  So I hope this says something about these products! They work!

I've been using Unblemish by R+F for 1 year now and I love it! My skin looks and feels great!  I used to use Proactiv Solutions and loved it too, but Rodan & Fields are the makers of Proactiv! Apparently they sold Proactiv to 'Gunthy Renker' about 10 years ago and began working on this.  They call this the 'Adult Skincare line' and it focuses on more than acne! It removes fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, age spots and more!

                   This is the Reverse Line:

And this is the Anti-Age Line:

Anyway, this is my new business! To check it out go to KimMetcalf.com
Thanks!
